Great Indian Hornbill
The Great Indian Hornbill forms monogamous pair bonds for life. The male hornbill dutifully brings food to the female who spends her time within the nest she has enclosed with faeces to keep their young safe. A predominantly frugivorous species, in the wild, the great hornbill's diet consists mainly of fruit, like figs.
Great Indian Hornbill is seen in parts of the Indian subcontinent. Its impressive size and colour have led to its importance in many tribal cultures and rituals.
